Vitax’s first coffee morning raises £400

Bakers from Vitax’s Skelmersdale offices cooked up a treat for family, friends, colleagues and clients as they hosted their first ever coffee morning to raise essential funds for charity.

Taking part in Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, cake lovers were spoilt for choice from the array of home-baked goodies available, from chocolate fudge cake and cupcakes to malteser cheesecake and cream sponges.

Joining forces with colleagues from John Hall, Vitax opened its coffee morning to friends and families who dropped in for coffee, cake and a natter.

Raising almost £250 on the day for Macmillan, Vitax topped up the funds to £400 which will be used by the charity to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can.

Barbara Clarke, who arranged the coffee morning along with two colleagues – Leanne Mitchell and Jenna Stannard - says: “We are always looking for opportunities to bring people together and Macmillan’s coffee morning is a great way to not only raise funds for charity, but also for us all to get together for one great cause.

“The bakers excelled themselves and those who couldn’t bake either brought in purchased cakes or generously donated.

“The atmosphere throughout the day was great and everyone got into the fundraising spirit.  In addition to the cakes, we also played games, such as ‘Dunk the Biscuit’ and ‘Berry Good Guess’, whilst the children drew pictures which are taking pride of place in our new art gallery!

“A huge thank you to everyone who baked, bought and participated in the games, every donation counts.”
